Derval est une autre petite ville de Loire-Atlantique connue pour sa longue histoire. Le nom « Derval » semble être dérivé du mot gaulois dervos, qui signifie « chêne ». Au début du Moyen Âge, le territoire de Derval abritait une population d'origine bretonne. Et dans l'histoire de France, Derval est souvent cité, notamment son château (auquel un album est consacré). La commune est recensée depuis 1793. Les habitants étaient alors au nombre de 1750, et aujourd'hui, ils sont moins de 4 000. D'ailleurs, la devise des anciens seigneurs de Derval : « Sans plus ! ».

Derval is another small Loire-Atlantique town with a long history. The name “Derval” seems to derive from the Gallic word dervos, meaning “oak”. In the early Middle Ages, Derval was home to a population of Breton origin. And in French history, Derval is often cited, notably for its castle (to which an album is dedicated). The commune has been registered since 1793. At the time, there were 1750 inhabitants, and today there are fewer than 4,000. In fact, the motto of the former lords of Derval: “No more!"

Дерваль это еще один небольшой городок в Луар-Атлантик, известный своей долгой историей. Топоним «Derval», по-видимому, происходит от галльского слова dervos, что означает «дуб». В период раннего Средневековья на территории Дерваля появилось население бретонского происхождения. А во французской истории Дерваль  упоминается довольно часто, особенно его замок (которому посвящен отдельный альбом). Перепись населения проводится в коммуне с 1793 года. Тогда местных жителей насчитывалось 1750, а сегодня здесь проживает менее 4 тысяч человек. Кстати, девиз древних лордов Дерваля: «Не более!».
