Blain est une cité antique située au bord de la rivière Isac qui existe depuis l'époque gallo-romaine. Situé à l'ancien carrefour romain entre Nantes et Rennes, Blain a joué un rôle important dans l'économie de la région et a été le théâtre de plusieurs batailles qui ont marqué l'histoire. Le Château de La Groulais, construit au XIIIe siècle par les ducs de Rohan, servait à cette époque à protéger les frontières bretonnes, Fougères, Ancenis et Clisson. Durant la révolution, le château est pillé et incendié. Les archives de la famille Rogan ont brûlé. Le château servit ensuite de caserne, puis même de prison. Aujourd'hui, il ne reste que neuf des douze tours d'origine.  L'agglomération qui s'est développée autour du château est aujourd'hui une petite ville française typique, avec une population d'environ 10 000 habitants et tous les attributs de la civilisation. Blain est la principale ville du canton du même nom depuis 1790 et de la communauté de communes "Pays de Blain". Cette région proche de la Bretagne a été fortement influencée par la culture celtique, si bien que les habitants l'appellent Blaen en breton, aiment parler de leurs ancêtres celtes et adorent danser des danses bretonnes, chanter des chansons bretonnes et écouter des groupes de cornemuses.

Blain is an ancient town on the banks of the River Isac that has existed since the Gallo-Roman period. Located at the old Roman crossroads between Nantes and Rennes, Blain once played an important role in the region's economy and was the site of several battles that left their mark on history. The castle of Groulé, built in the 13th century by the Dukes of Rogan, served at that time to defend the borders of Breton, Fougeres, Ancenis and Clisson. During the Revolution, the castle was looted and set on fire. The archives of the Rogan family were burned. The chateau then served as a barracks, then even a prison. Today, only nine of the original twelve towers remain. And the settlement that grew around it is now a typical small French town with a population of about 10,000 people and all the trappings of civilization. Blain has been the capital of the canton of the same name since 1790 and of the community of municipalities "Pays de Blain". This area near Brittany has been heavily influenced by Celtic culture, so the locals call it Blaen in Breton, enjoy talking about their Celtic ancestors and adore dancing Breton dances, sing Breton songs and listen to bagpipe bands.
